Most technical universities (including Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University) enforce strict attendance policies to ensure regular student participation:
75% Mandatory Attendance
Standard requirement across all registered theory lectures, tutorials, and practical lab sessions to sit for semester exams.
60% - 74% Medical Condonation

Students with attendance below 60% are detained from taking end-semester exams and are marked as "Detained due to attendance shortage" in that course, requiring them to re-register in subsequent sessions.
